PLANT MANAGER / MANAGER TRAINEE

The Fisher Companies Ready Mix Concrete Team is now hiring a Plant Manager / Manager Trainee. An ideal candidate for this position is an individual with strong managerial experience, who has the willingness to learn and the desire to excel in the concrete industry. If necessary, training and education will be provided to the right candidate in order to foster a strong understanding of the concrete industry and company culture. An individual interested in long-term employment, with the option to advance in the organization, is also an ideal fit. Any knowledge of the concrete industry is a plus. The Fisher Companies operate four plant locations throughout the Central Michigan area – Midland (Fisher Sand & Gravel), Mt. Pleasant (Central Concrete), Alma (Central Concrete) and Clare (Central Concrete). WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of employees, to ensure the daily schedule and daily plant operations progress as expected.

  • Confirm that all required resources, such as staff, equipment, and materials, are in place to ensure successful day-to-day operations.

  • Responsible for managing construction aggregate material inventory levels and communicating to the proper departments/vendors, as needed, to maintain those adequate material levels.

  • Work together with other organizations/departments to ensure that all upcoming project and service requests are on-track to be successfully fulfilled by the ready mix operation.

  • Coach employees in a way that creates a strong “team” and “goal achieving” mentality.

  • Operate with safety, product quality, and customer satisfaction in mind.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience in a managerial role, with a demonstrated track record of success in that role.

  • Experience in concrete is beneficial, but not required. However, a desire to learn the industry is an absolute requirement.

  • This position will require work in an office environment, with routine travel to visit ready mix plants, yards, and job sites.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong employee management skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Working knowledge of computer software, such as G-Suite and Microsoft Office. Experience with Command Alkon is beneficial, but not required.

  • Experience operating heavy equipment is beneficial, but not required.

  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
